Guide to Read or Listen Sahasranamam

 Here is a layman's guide on how to read or listen Sahasranamam



When we listen or chant Shri Vishnu Sahasranamam, we should be aware of at least some names if not all which are being played. Even if you haven't studied Sanskrit or haven't studied meaning of each name separately still there are some names which can be comfortably understood in our common language. 

For examplae : 

Bhakt-Vatsal - 'भक्त वत्सल ' - It shows Lord Hari loves and care for devotees. 

Shoka-Vinashan: - 'शोकविनाशनः' - Lord Hari destroys sorrows. 

Duh:-Swapana-Nashan: - 'दुःस्वप्ननाशनः'  - He destroys bad dreams or bad                                                                               omens. 

By focusing and giving attention of your mind when such names comes while playing or reading Shri Vishnu Sahasranamam,  you actually connect to Sahasranamam on conscious level as well which activates those aspects of names in our life.  By such mindfulness exercise of listening or reading you get to have live feel of Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam and  you get most benefit out of Shri Vishnu Sahasranamam chanting or reading. 


The most important fact is to have feeling for Lord Vishnu throughout listening or chanting. You must be mindfully aware that I am chanting or listening names or qualities of all merciful, all powerful, most compassionate and most benevolent, omnipresent Lord Hari. Have this feeling throughout chanting and you will feel vibrations of Lord Hari in your heart or spine, you will have some strong feeling of assurance.
